We enjoyed a mid November sailing trip on Lake Grevelingen to the max. We were amazed that we were about the only boat on the water and getting to an island that normally is very crowded and ending up the only visitors was a true relaxed experience. The colors in the fall are so much more vivid than during the hazy summer months and shooting pics made me realize that very much. No it was not cold, no we did not suffer at all and YES I can recommend trying "weird stuff" now and then to experience the unexpected. Freedom (also the name of our boat) is not about the size of the boat but it is about the size of the waters around us!

Late fall sailing
going out on the boat at the end of October can be a (weather) challenge. we were lucky enough that the sky was open and there was a good wind on Lake Grevelingen. our first night we stayed overnight on the Island of Hompelsplaat or also known by us as "horse island" because of the presence of wild horses here. during our evening walk we found the horses close by the only fresh water pond on the island. just beautiful.

Dear tree stump
Dear tree stump. I found you in the garden where we had our little cabin for one night along the Hardangerfjord in the South West part of Norway. We needed something to keep our unhooked trailer leveled during the night so the cool box in the trailer kept working to keep our food and my proteïne drinks cool. When I found you, you were put to waste against an old wall and no future use for you seemed possible. But as it appeared you were the right size and shape for the job that changed. From that point you did your job for 3 weeks for us. You did loose some weight during the trip (as I did as well) but there was never a complaint from you. You stood in sunshine, rain, wind and even sub zero temperatures and again never any complaint. On the end of the trip we thought you deserved better than just be obsolete and thrown away. We deceived to make you a chair for our garden gnome’s. And thats what you do since then. Our gnome’s are very thankful and we can see you every day reminding us of a great trip. Thank you dear tree stump.

Back on our BLOG
It's been 10 years ago sice our last entry here. Main rason was the existance of FACEBOOK that can deal with a lot of "latest news". However, upon many requests related to our travels and specificly our photo's we will try to make this actual again. Today I started a test with a new website for photo galleries and you can find the first (test) result on this BLOG on the right under "photo albums". Tell us what you think. It will improve over time such as text with the photo's where they were taken or other details. Have fun.
